The PSLF is a program that allows the forgiveness of your loans within 10 years after you have served. When do I have to File For PSLF Employment Certification Form Already Left Employer?
You can qualify for PSLF only if you hold a loan that is eligible and you have made the required 120 payments on that loan. You may be able file for PSLF with only 10 qualifying payment, but the application must be filed prior to the 10 years that begin your repayment period.
You do not need to declare PSLF before the commencement of your loan period. You may wait until you’ve made 120 payments before submitting for it.
